No,
it's not David Steele! It's David Mawdesley, Hindley's longest serving playing
member, about to start his 43rd season.
DSM has scored over 13,000 runs for the Club, taken over 600 wickets, held over 300 catches and taken 10 stumpings, including 5 in one innings! He has one hat-trick and 8 centuries. He has even been known to cut the grass, paint the pavilion and has occasionally had the odd moan! (He's also written his own caption for this photo!) |

On
19th June 1994, HSP played Leyland including the mighty Malcolm Marshall
in the LCA Knockout. Marshall strode to the wicket at no.4 and promptly
hit his first ball over the boundary. He then remarked to our 'keeper, "I
think this next one is going over the trees!"
As the picture shows, it didn't! M.D. Marshall c S. Hart b M. Tickle 4 Leyland did win the match, but only after we gave them an almighty scare. In fact, if Mike Tickle hadn't been caught by a stunning catch on the boundary for 64, we would probably have won. |
| Martin Storey stands beside the scoreboard showing his amazing feat in a Sunday XI game against Eccleston, when he scored a club record 219. HSP, despite only having 8 players, not surprisingly went on to win the match by 178 runs. |
