1st XI, Manchester Association Premier League
HSP keep pressure on with two to go
A seven-wicket win at home to Whalley Range kept HSP in the hunt for a third successive championship title.

The visitors batted first and were in trouble at 105-7 before recovering to finish their 48 overs on 214-8. Marc Birch finished with 4-44 and Chris Highton took 3-34 for HSP.

In reply HSP built a solid platform for their run chase through Phil Moorfield and Kevin Anderson, who put on 99 for the second wicket. Moorfield was out for 68 but Anderson went on with support from James Hart, who provided impetus to the innings with 32 from 34 balls. Anderson finished the match with a six to seal the win with 16 balls to go.

HSP still trail Swinton Moorside by 6 points with two games left.
